The Ife Centre for Psychological Studies & Services (RC 011934) is a Non Profit, Non-Governmental Organization that is based in Nigeria since 1993. The ICPS also called Ife PsychologIA for short is devoted to the study of human behaviour and experience in all sphere of endeavours. We publish PsychologIA twice (March and September) since 1993 and Gender & Behaviour twice also (June and December, and in special editions) since 2003. The editors and reviewers of the journal has progressively expanded from its traditional Nigerian setting to include scholars in Ghana, South Africa, Cameroon, Mauritius, India, USA, Canada and England thereby internationalizing the review process. It should be noted that on a yearly basis, the review process of Gender & Behaviour is progressively evaluated and advanced by the Editorial Board to meet international best practices. For instance, at the point of receiving all manuscripts/articles, we always specify the waiting period and that our reviewers will ensure that all papers submitted in our Journal will experience a serious and expedient peer review process (proof sent to your email). We have never deviated from this stance.
Gender and Behaviour Journal (ISSN:1596-9231) is an offshoot of the Ife Centre for Psychological Studies & Services (RC 011934) is a non-governmental organization that is based in the heart of Ile- Ife, Osun State, Nigeria since 1993. The Centre focuses on the study of human behaviour and in all field of applied psychology.
In 2003, a new Journal was birthed and it metamorphosed to become Gender and Behaviour, as it was inherited from a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based at the Department of Psychology, University of Ibadan. I mean the Network of Psychological Studies of Women Issues. It focuses on female issues mostly papers are received from people across the globe. The Journal has been consistently published in June, December and in Special editions since 2003.
The ICPS was established by Professor Akinsola Olowu (1948-2021) he was a British-trained psychologist who worked at the Department of Psychology, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife for 42 years. Professor Olowu was the Coordinator of the GENDER & BEHAVIOUR project. He was a member of the National Associations of Psychology in Nigeria and Ghana.
